Construction Safety Week 2022 | Montante Construction

Construction Safety Week 2022

You see us every day, wearing brightly colored vests, helmets and protective gear. We might be wrestling with heavy machinery, tightening a bolt four stories in the sky or kicking up dust with steel-toed boots as we move the earth beneath our feet. There are thousands of workers in our community currently working on millions of dollars of construction projects. These men and women are literally reshaping our community – building bridges, hospitals, warehouses and more.

Safety is and always must remain a top value.  Montante Construction has an unwavering commitment to protecting the safety and wellbeing of our employees, clients, and community. Vigilant safety protocols are critical to ensuring a project runs smoothly and that everyone goes home safely at the end of the day. We have instilled many ways to reinforce safety on our jobsites.

  • We work with an independent safety advisor who frequently inspects our sites. They also host lunch and learn safety training sessions for our staff on a variety of topics such as heat safety and heavy equipment safety and send out monthly newsletters reviewing relevant safety topics.

  • We established an internal safety committee. Our safety committee is a cross functional team to ensure our culture of safety touches all corners of the company. This committee develops and promotes a safe and healthy environment for all employees, vendors, and visitors. They have implemented several companywide policies and procedures including:
    • A company-wide visitors policy to ensure all people who visit a jobsite adhere to our strict safety standards
    • Designed safety banners to be displayed at every jobsite that give an overview of our safety standards and protocols
    • Creation of a safety manual and training program for all staff
    • Maintain a company intranet page with relevant updates to maintain communication with the entire company

  • Every member of our team receives a safety manual that outlines various safety policies and procedures. We also require OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 training for all field staff, as well as basic safety training for all employees.

  • We strictly adhere to safety standards set by OSHA to ensure everyone goes home safely and the project stays on track. OSHA requires employers to ensure the safety of all employees in the work environment. Eye and face protection must be provided whenever necessary to protect against chemical, environmental, radiological, or mechanical irritants and hazards.

Safety is a value, a belief, and an obligation that unites us across individual teams, companies, and the entire industry. It’s a connection that is seen and felt between our fellow workers on the job site, between office, management, and craft, between companies and even competition. At Montante Construction we are committed to making sure that our team stays safe on the jobsite and returns home to their families every night.
