Project Overview
Designed by architect Enoch Curtis, the Opera House opened in April 1891, featuring elements inspired by classical European theaters. The building eventually fell into disrepair, leading to the formation of the Fredonia Preservation Society in the early 1980s to prevent its demolition, with initial renovations completed in 1994. In 2021, Montante Construction, in partnership with Trautman Associates, undertook further upgrades. The project involved the remediation and restoration of exterior finishes and 71 historic wood-framed windows, the addition of a large backlit marquee, and the construction of two new bathrooms.
